Lori,
I'm with Joe, cook on the darn thing and forget about it. I'm a "B" girl myself and use the griddle all the time. Just wipe it down and get the surface dirt and grime off. I tell my "horrified" modern stove friends that its like a cast iron pan it's seasoned! Now please don't invision a filthy grill, it just isn't shiney and new looking. I've contemplated a cover, but can never find one and when they're on chambers they cost a fortune.
